Maddie's Hat

fits a child's head 20-22"

Materials: Pink yarn, orange boucle yarn, lime green yarn, all worsted weight.
Gauge: 5 stitches = 1"
Needles: set of size 6 double points, cable stitch holder

Hat:

CO 90 Stitches in Pink.

Rounds 1-6: Purl each row.

Rounds 7-8: Green Yarn: *P1, K1 tbl, P1, K4, P1, K1 tbl, P1* repeat this nine times around.
Round 9: *P1, K1 tbl, P1, (slip 2 to cable holder and hold in front, K2, then K2 from cable stitch holder), P1, K1 tbl, P1* , repeat 9 times around.
Rounds 10-14: Repeat row 7.

Round 15: Repeat row 9.
Rounds 16-18: Repeat row 7.

Round 19: WIth Pink Yarn. Knit one round.
Round 20: With Pink Yarn. Purl one round.

Rows 21-32: With Orange Yarn: Knit 12 rounds.

Round 33: With Pink Yarn. Knit one round.
Round 34: With Pink Yarn. Purl one round.

Rounds 35-46 With Green Yarn: Repeat Rows 7-18.

Rounds 47-52: With Pink Yarn, Purl 8 rounds.
Round 53: With Pink yarn, purl one row decreasing 2 evenly spaced.

To Make Tuck:

*With right hand needle, pick up loop of purl st on wrong side, 8 rows below. Slip loop onto left hand needle and knit together with st on needle. Repeat from * to end of row.

To Make Crown:

continue with Pink Yarn.
There will be 8 decreases each round, every other round.
Row 1: *(K2 tog, K9) around, repeating from *
Row 2: Knit one round.
Row 3: *(K2 tog, K8) around, repeating from *
Row 4: Knit one round.

Continue until *(K2 tog, K1) has been worked.
Then knit one more round. There should be about 22 stitches left.

Next row: *(K2 tog) repeat
Next row: Knit one round

There should be about 10 stitches or so left. Cut yarn and thread through remaining stitches and pull up and finish.
